Our "Why,"
Starts with Family

PaveGuard's Background

My name is James Moburg, founder of PaveGuard. Thanks for visiting us online. My oldest son painted a picture of what I do (to the right).  It says "Daddy fixing cracks." That's a bit more professional than "Daddy's crack truck." Entrepreneurially speaking, PaveGuard began as a series of hypotheses:

My family includes my amazing wife and 3 awesome kids, and we reside in a Kansas City suburb, Overland Park KS. My vocation is to protect and provide for my family, be the best husband and dad I can be, and get them all to Heaven. One great lesson I can provide my kids is one I learned from my own dad, and that's the lesson of hard honest work. The business lesson I try to employ is to provide a great value to my customers, one that doesn't require fancy convincing, but rather an opportunity to share with others what we do, and make it easy for someone to decide if they want to be a customer.

We believe doing good work also includes treating people like they want to be treated, as if they were my own parents, my Grandma, our Priest, or next door neighbor. Doing great work, and being a dependable vendor are just the beginning of our work. This is part of my plan to be a good member of the community - make pavement last longer, look better and have less liability, provide meaningful jobs so that others can provide for their families. If I can help a business owner save money on their pavement, I've given them the freedom to put that money where it matters most to them or their business. I look at each pavement job, as a chance to treat the pavement like it's my own, and I want to help your pavement put your best foot forward (for your customers or your tenants) just like I would do if it were my own. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to serve each of our customers-- having each customer makes this company possible.
  • Is there room for improvement in the Pavement industry?
  • Can I provide a better total pavement service, one which provides value to customers, pays employees well and still have room to provide for my family?
  • Are there advancements to be made to the science?
  • Can I create this within the framework of Scalability?
  • Can others be successful by the formation of this business?

PictureThe Family I Work to Provide For

On the importance of fatherhood: "Society goes by way of the family, the family goes by way of the father; if we want to change this world, we fathers must change." - https://www.fatherlygreatness.org/ <--Fathers of St. Joseph, a great program that helps encourage men to be better fathers, husbands and leaders.

On the topic of God wanting His world back, a reminder that each of us were born with particular charisms, and that we fit into this plan: "You were born for this" -  https://actsxxix.org/media/podcasts/ <-- One of a handful of places to find the content provided by Fr. John Riccardo. If you haven't listened to this perspective on the Gospel, try this Youtube link "Proclaiming the Kerygma"

On accepting your own cross "Accepting that which you did not choose, do not like, and cannot change" https://www.schooloffaith.com/daily-rosary-meditations <-- this is a daily rosary podcast you should at least try once, if not consider making it a habit. Great daily content.

The humor behind dreaming big: "To do anything big by definition would mean you are unqualified to begin the task" - Eric Weinstein

"Be who God intended you to be, and you will set the world on fire" - Saint Catherine of Siena

Lastly - I do openly share my faith, however I welcome the unique perspectives and faiths of all those I encounter. The purpose of this background is to help others understand who I am and gently provide the context to my perspectives.
